Things to do in and around Painswick

Situated less than 10 miles from Cheltenham, and 40 minutes from J15 of the M4 and 10 minutes from the M5, Painswick offers a variety of things to do. 

Local amenities include the village post office, grocery store, pharmacy and various retail establishments and gift shops. Gastronomically, Painswick is well catered for with its two pub restaurants, bistro and upmarket eatery. The local Spanish delicatessen adds a cosmopolitan flair.

For walkers there are plentiful local walks and dedicated footpaths, including the famous Cotswold Way. Views from Painswick Beacon extend into 5 counties.

There are a number of interesting places to visit for sightseers, such as St.Mary's Church with its famous yew tree church yard boasting 99 beautifully sculptured yew trees, and Rococo Gardens with its maze, follies and seasonal botanical attractions. 

For those interested in sports, there is rugby, tennis, bowls and golf within the town. Within a stone's throw of Painswick there is the famous Cheltenham Racecourse and Gloucester Rugby Club. Gloucester Ski Club is approximately two miles from Painswick centre and there are various horse riding stables locally. Fishermen have a great choice of fishing venues.
